DOWNTOWN SHUTDOWN

May 25, 2016

“Downtown Shutdown is a play on the concept of ‘shutting the office down a little early’,” Downtown Events Director Michael McGiffin explains of the latest outdoor event series to take place at the Kress Lot on Federal. “We are beyond excited about the resurgence of a ‘Party on the Plaza’ type event especially in the new and improved location,” he finishes. Downtown Shutdown will be on select Fridays during the summer and will be kicked off with a “Tie-Off a Great Time” pre-party that will be sponsored by the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber. The pre-party will feature free admission and entertainment from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM and also have a cash bar and food trucks for the Happy Hour crowd. “As with most projects involving the downtown resurgence, this is a great collaborative effort between us, the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber and The City of Youngstown,” Eric Ryan, President of Eric Ryan Productions/JAC Management Group said. “Live entertainment downtown on Fridays in the summer has long been one of the best traditions of the city and we are proud to be able to improve upon the concept and bring it back to the valley.” Kim Calvert, VP of Marketing/Special Events for Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber echoed Ryan’s sentiment, “We are thrilled to be part of this exciting series of events downtown and look forward to kicking off the weekends with our members and the community.”
